Nurse sharks are bottom-dwelling sharks. These sharks live in the warm, shallow waters of the Bahamas. Nurse sharks have the ominous dorsal fin of a predator, but are much more laid back than your average shark. These sharks have a grayish-brown appearance, can grow from 7.5 to 9.75 feet in length, and can weigh up to 300 pounds! The spots on young nurse sharks can be used to identify them. Nurse sharks feed on fish, squid, and crabs from the shallow ocean floor, using their powerful jaws to crush and eat shellfish and even coral.
